Our Mission & Priorities Are…
We are committed to enhancing the life of children with intellectual disability and bringing a brighter path for their future.
We Do…
At the moment, as a partner with Binh Minh Elementary School, an educational institution that offers special education, we involve the children with mental disability in various activities to practice social and behavioral skills, assert their full citizenship and take control of their lives.
We Do It Because…
We believe that respect and help from the society will enable the children with intellectual disabilities to improve self-esteem and make social achievements. We believe they should have equal rights and access to basic services and learning opportunities in order to pursue a sustainable future for the life.
How Did We Start…
"Harmonization" Summer Camp is a charity and volunteer project based in Hanoi, Vietnam. First initiated by Phuong Le, a student at Connecticut College, the project was submitted to Davis Projects for Peace and approved for grants to implement in the summer of 2009.
What Does It Mean By “Peace?”
Intentionally, no clear definition is offered so as not to limit the imagination. We leave it up to the students to define what a “project for peace” might be. We hope to encourage creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. The overall program (all 100 projects) is to be worldwide in scope and impact, but specific projects may be undertaken anywhere and as grassroots as desired, including in the U.S.
-Kathryn Wasserman Davis-
The concept of Peace does not always need to be as serious as the absence of political or economic conflicts; it is validated by the amity among people and by the shared equality in the society. Peace is the condition in which people feel secure about their beings and have the same privileges toward their future. Still, its entire meaning could be acquired only if it is additionally perceived as the state of mental comfort and self-achievement. “Harmonization” Summer Camp’s mission is to help people to capture their best abilities, and to achieve Peace in its original form.
